Our History

In 2003, Anil and Renu Malik opened Spices of India originally with a focus only on the market. As the residents of Buffalo, NY, began to love the Indian grocery store, these owners of Spices of India began to think of expansion. Anil and Renu’s sons, Sumeet and Amit joined the family business and together the family added on a large restaurant.

“It is our goal to teach others about our culture and our food so that they can enjoy the delicious flavors of India. Stop in today to join us in celebrating our food and our culture.”

Grocery Store

Our Buffalo, NY Indian grocery store features a wide variety of Indian sweets, spices, fresh vegetables, dairy products, fruits, nuts, rices and more! Some of the spices and foods found in our store may be unfamiliar if you have not tasted a lot of Indian food, but we love to teach guests about our culture. If you ever have a question about how to use an ingredient or what it is, we would be more than happy to assist.

In South Asian culture, it is important to bring family and friends sweets for big events such as holidays, the birth of a child or a new job. Indian sweets are called Mithai and are most often made with sugar, milk, condensed milk and fruits. They are fried, boiled or steamed. We make fresh sweets every day for your enjoyment!

Indian food derives its flavor from the delicious herbs and spices used during cooking. Our curry dishes are very flavorful due to the combination of spices such as ginger, coriander, cumin, turmeric, red chili powder and more. We have a wide variety of spices available for you to make your own combination of spices.

Fresh vegetables and pulses are also staples to Indian food. Be sure to ask for more information about our pulses and rice when you stop in!

Our Kitchen

Our menu has something to please even the pickiest of eaters. We are an Indian and vegetarian restaurant that serves authentic dishes and more! Why not start your meal with one of our delicious appetizers. We offer a wide selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers, including our Vegetable Pakora which is a vegetable fritter that has been dipped in a chickpea batter and served with salad and dipping sauces. Our signature appetizer is our Chicken Samosa which is a delicious blend of Indian spices wrapped up a pastry shell.

Many of our dishes are served with one of our homemade breads. We don’t use eggs or yeast in any of our dough and all breads are made fresh to order! Naan is the traditional bread in Indian cuisine and is an oven-baked flatbread. We also serve Tandoori Roti and a few other varieties. Be sure to try them all!

You can’t come to Spices of India for a meal without getting dessert! Indian food features excellent desserts that have a subtle spice under the sweetness. Try our sticky toffee pudding, which combines English toffee pudding with chai ice cream.

Is your mouth watering? Are you short on time? No need to worry, we are also a takeout restaurant! You can call in your order on your way home from work or place it while you get some shopping done. We serve your meal up quickly so you can move on with your day.
